Arts Awareness Award

On April 16th, our Executive Director, Judy Ginsburgh, received an Arts Awareness and Education Award from the Arts Council of Central Louisiana for her dedication to the arts in our community.  Congratulations, Judy!

Published Best Practices

On December 1, 2009, a new book titled, "Transforming the Healthcare Experience Through the Arts" will be released.  The book features 36 case examples of exemplary healthcare arts programs and Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare, Inc. is one of those featured!  Pre-release reviews say, "A compelling journey into the healing power of art.  A beautiful book physically and in the inspiring story it tells."
We are proud to be included in this special book.

It is with great sadness that we report the death of pianist, Dan Hill.  Dan volunteered his time and talents to Arts & Healthcare by playing piano in the Cabrini Outpatient Center and in the Rapides Regional Outpatient Center Lobby.  He also recently filmed a DVD segment with us to broadcast into patient rooms.  He was a magnificent musician and a humble soul who will be greatly missed by many.  We send our deepest sympathies to his family.  Thanks for the music, Dan.  We will miss you!

Grants

Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare, Inc. just received a grant from the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe to continue our LobbyArts Concert Series in the hospitals.  Thank you for helping us bring healing arts to patients and families in our area.
We are also grateful to the Alexandria Downtown Rotary Club and to the Roy O. Martin Foundation for generous grants which wll allow us to create video arts episodes that can be broadcast into patient rooms.  The videos will feature performances and visual art by our local Arts & Healthcare performers and artists.  We expect the project to be completed in the Fall of 2010.  We are thankful for this community support.

Cabrini Tile Garden

We have just completed an 18 month project for Associates at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini.  Over 300 Associates created ceramic tiles for the new Healing Garden project.  The tiles will be dedicated at a ceremony at Cabrini on August 2, 2010.  Thanks to all who participated.  These tiles will add a beautiful and meaningful addition to your workplace which is visited by so many in our community.
