Where do you offer your healing arts services?
We are based in Alexandria, Louisiana and we currently offer our services at both CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital and Rapides Regional Medical Center. We are happy to consult with you to create a healing arts program in your community. Contact us at arts@artsandhealthcare.org
What are some of the programs you offer?
We are committed to working with healthcare facilities to improve the environment of their facilities through arts based healing. Some of our programs have included:
Live music performances in lobbies, waiting rooms and cafeterias
Rotating art galleries in hospitals and waiting rooms featuring local artists
Arts at the bedside
Visual arts in cancer centers and infusion treatment centers
Pediatric art carts and art rooms
Doctor's Day Follies - Annual opportunities for medical staff to share talents in music, art and dance
SOS - Staff Open Studio - Hands-on art/craft experiences especially for medical staff
Threshold Choir - music for transitions (hospice/paaiative care)
Movement Activities in the Rehab Gym
Reading & Journaling at the Bedside
Why Healing Arts?
The arts help to relieve anxiety, pain and boredom. They can make exercises and therapy more fun. The arts can totally change the environment of a healthcare space. The arts can help reduce burn-out for medical professionals. Participation in the arts (either passively or actively) can change you. The arts heal your soul!
